They say that registering your vehicle in the Land Transportation Office is difficult. Yes, that true if you don't know the steps on how to register your vehicle in the LTO. Every since, I am the one that do the dirty job of registering my personal vehicle in the Land Transportation Office and I don't find any problem with that because I know the stops on how to register a vehicle in the LTO. Here are my tips and steps in registering your car.
- Make sure that you have all the original copies of the Official Receipt (OR) and the Certificate of Registration (CR).
- Have the CR copy photocopied.
- Proceed to your motor vehicle insurance. Usually, people only get the the TPL or third party liability of the insurance. This is the only requirement of the LTO before a vehicle can be registered in their office.
- Proceed to the nearest Emission Centers and have your vehicle emission check by the center. The emission center will issue a certificate that will prove that your vehicle is road worthy.
- Attach the photocopy of the CR and the original OR, along with the emission certificate and the receipt copy of the TPL insurance. Proceed to the LTO inspection area. Have the engine stenciled and body number of the vehicle. Submit it to the inspection head for its signature.
- Submit the complied document in the Motor Vehicle Registration Unit for the final part of the process.
- Pay the amount specified in the payable as required the office then proceed to the corresponding window to get the latest OR and the vehicle sticker.
In my years of experience with the LTO office, it would take at least 11/2 days to have your vehicle registered. Always remember to never pay any fixers to process your vehicle registration. The process is easy when you know what to do and the things to be complied.
